A Big Moment in the Season of Transition

Tucson Round Two… Week Six

Hey there!

A Big Moment = The House is Sold

This has been an eventful (and a little bit stressful) week for us. We closed on our home in Prescott Valley on Wednesday. Phew!

Prior to the closing we were informed (during the buyers walk through) that the new roof we had put on was not completed. We had to get the roofer to come out and finish the job…or the deal was likely to bomb out.

He did get there and got it done.

The closing all went through and Steve and I sighed a bit sigh of relief. It is challenging to sell your home and not be around to oversee all the pieces.

Tiny Home

Last weekend we went back to Willcox to visit a tiny home we saw and liked there. By tiny home I mean its less than 400 square feet total. I am thinking it’s more like a cabin than a house.

We liked the area and it sits on 2 acres. We decided to make an offer on it and our offer has been accepted.

So we just have inspections and the like to complete.

The home is unfinished and in the construction process so we will have to obtain permits and finish up the job. We can get a temporary use permit and live in the Airstream while we finish this project up.

We are still intending to do travel nurse contracts, but really wanted a place with a small mortgage (emphasis on small) as a home base. So this property will fill that role in our lives.

Plus, we could potentially rent it out as an airbnb if we decide to.

Please pray with us that all things come together for this, or fall to pieces if we aren’t supposed to have it.

Cooler Temps

As I’m writing this it is so cold here!  The outside temps are in the low 50’s. There is rain falling  and it is dreary. Not my favorite weather… Brrrr. Thankfully we have heat in the airstream.

Loma Alta Hike

Steve and I did a hike this past weekend about 20 minutes from the campground we are at.

We went to Loma Alta Trailhead in the Saguaro National Park.

We did not see anyone once we were on the trail.

The hike was about 6 miles long and the solitude of the desert was just what my soul needed. So peaceful and beautiful.

About 1 mile of the hike was in a wash, Coyote Wash, and it was all deep sand and loose rocks and very hard to hike through. I was glad to begin the journey up just to get out of the sand!

We went up 500 feet or so and had the most glorious views. This was the longest I have hiked in my new boots and they did pretty good. However, my toes were glad to get out of them!

Regular Life and Transitions

Steve has been busy with work and things seem to be going well for him.

We take walk together in the morning and in the evenings.

I have been trying to do some writing, but I am finding that stress eats up my creativity. I know it will flow again, but these transitions have taken a lot of my mental energy.

So glad to know that I have friends on this journey with me. Even though we don’t speak every week, I consider you all my friends and can feel your positive thoughts, prayers, and how much you all are for us.

I hope you know that Steve and I cherish you and are for you in all that God is calling you to.

Blessings!

  1. Congratulations times two!! Glad to read your update. Love you both tons! ❤️

  2. THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for this Chrissy! You and Steve staying busy in such a NEAT way really!! So glad your home sold (I guess) lol You both are SO missed that even your “ears should be burning” (my own mother would say)!! All GOOD talk for sure.
I know so many in Bowie and Wilcox. I LOVE it down there for sure. Rode horses (did not hike-l). Snakes can abound in hot months so you must be on the lookout for them. I believe they can strike more “out of fear” than “hunger” – a lot like humans – right?
I will pray for a peaceful transition for you as your Hospice Assignment in Tucson comes to closure!! More WIILL or HAS already been revealed. Writing will come to you when the time allows. Enjoy this time (stress maybe some but nothing like it could be) ha, ha.
PROUD of you both and love your updates. Love to both – Maggie
