Hey friends!
It seems like a lifetime since I last blogged about life. We have had so much happen in our lives.
All Wrapped up In Tucson
We closed on a house in Tucson just a month ago. The house needed a good cleaning and then we went to work on furnishing it. We have it listed for rent and are praying that we get a taker!
It’s right by downtown and close to the major hospitals there. It’s a small house (2 beds/ 1 bath) that was completely redone a few years ago and has nice stainless appliances, tile work, granite, etc. It also has a hot tub and a cute back yard with a patio.
We had a marathon trip to Prescott on a Friday evening/ Saturday to get all our stuff out of storage. There is a building in back of the house we purchased that we are using to store our personal belongings.
Steve found a property manager to watch over the house while we are away and to list it on the web as a rental. We had some maintenance done to the Airstream, including new tires. We also got new tires on Steve’s truck.
Then we were ready to roll!
Trip to Colorado
The trip to Colorado was almost like a vacation for us. Steve’s birthday happened in the midst of preparing the house for rental, and mine happened this week when he was busy with learning the ropes of a new job. Intentionally, we took our time and stopped in 4 different places with Harvest Hosts as a celebration of each others birthdays.
It was fun to meet new people and see what they are spending their lives doing. We learned a bit about ranches, farms, wineries and breweries on our way.
The scariest part of the trip was coming down through Loveland Pass into Idaho Springs. The weather at almost 12,000 feet can be formidable and it was on that day.
The snow was falling and you couldn’t even see the road! We were hauling a trailer through some blizzard conditions and I can honestly say I was scared. Steve was steady on and we made it to the campground without issues.
Getting Settled
After getting settled in we quickly found out that there was no cell phone service with our Verizon phones and hot spot. The Wi-Fi at the campground doesn’t work at all. So, I resigned myself to no internet for the next 8 weeks, but Steve found out T-Mobil works and we got a hot spot from them for the time that we are here. So glad to be connected!
We had dinner with our son on Sunday evening in the little town of Idaho Springs. It’s a cute little town with lots of touristy stuff. Steve and I came back into town on Tuesday for my birthday dinner. Steve is getting acclimated to his territory and the way this hospice likes things done. He is really seeing some of the off the beaten path places in this area of Colorado.
Brrr!!!
It is cold here! Today the temperature was 27 degrees and snowy with temperatures dipping down as low as 17 degrees at night.
Something new we are figuring out is how to camp in cold weather. We have a heated water hose so our water line doesn’t freeze up. There are a pile of blankets on the bed at night, and we got an electric blanket that takes the chill off before we climb in at night.
Our camper is by a little stream that is just lovely. I had some visitors this week… 5 deer came to drink and frolic in the water. It was so fun to watch them.
On Saturday we woke up to about 4 inches of snow. Yikes!
We gathered up our laundry and headed into town to visit the laundry mat. We haven’t gone to a public laundromat together (we’ve just used the campgrounds) since we were in college. We reminisced about those days and walked into Idaho Springs town for a nice cup of coffee from The Frothy Cup.
Later we went into Evergreen for some groceries. Tomorrow we intend to visit the Vineyard church in Arivaca, CO.
I will fill you in on that next week.
Blessings!
Dear Steve and Chrissy,
