This week started off with Mothers Day. I was blessed to have contact with all 4 of my kids! Steve spoiled me with a lovely Indian Lunch in Denver and we went on an incredible hike (in the rain). I spoke with both my mother-in-law and my mom. It was a great day.
Steve and I had some disappointing news on Tuesday, the contract in MT fell through. So we are back to the drawing board with where we will go next month. We trust that God is leading us. Prayers on this front are appreciated. This lifestyle keeps us living “in between” and that space is sometimes difficult for me.
Steve and I enjoyed a great hike this week here in Idaho Springs. It’s called “Virginia Canyon Trailhead” and we went for 8.5 miles, gained 1667 feet of elevation, and had some of the most spectacular views of the snow capped mountains. (We will post this one in next week’s Sunday 7) Along the way we encountered a Gold Mine, several old shafts that were boarded up, and lots of holes in the ground where folks had gone digging for treasures. It was a lot of fun.
We did another trail called “Prospectors Trail” as well this week. It was pretty much straight up a mountain. At the top there was a lovely field we were wandering around in and saw a Mountain Lion! When it saw us it turned and ran. As we stood there processing what we had just seen and wondering if we were mistaken, it came back! This time Steve and I were the ones that turned and got moving out of there.
Saturday we spent the day in Denver running errands. We did groceries and got the oil in the truck changed. We found an amazing European style bakery called “Taste of Denmark” that makes the most delicious cream puff! I was stoked to finally have a good cream puff again. Denver was very Smokey. I guess there are some raging fires in Canada and the smoke is coming down into CO. Idaho Springs is not nearly as smokey as Denver. On Saturday the news said the air quality in Denver was 3rd worst in the nation, under Kuwait (#2) and Delhi (#1). So needless to say we didn’t spend much time there hiking or being outdoors as we had planned.
