Last Sunday Steve and I got to go visit the town of Winter Park. The drive from Idaho Springs to there was AMAZINGLY picturesque. We loved climbing up into the mountains and then dropping back down into Winter Park. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in town and then took on a hike there. The hike was unexpectedly snowy! We were hiking in 3-4 feet of snow pack for a good bit of the time. We also fell through the snow many times. We passed a couple of other hikers who lamented not having snow shoes, which we didn’t have either. We saw a lot of moose droppings, but didn’t get to see any moose. We did see some long horn sheep though. Overall it was a great time!
This week has been a series of opportunities and let downs in regards to where we will land next. Our contract here has only 2 more weeks and then we move on.
We got a pretty good thunderstorm on Wednesday. It’s been a while since I’ve heard thunder rumbles and claps and lightening. It was kinda fun. Wednesday evening we got to take our son Jeremiah out for dinner in Boulder. It was a combination Graduation and Birthday meal. We ate at a great Italian restaurant and then had some gelato to finish it off.
Thursday Steve and I were able to so a hike in Georgetown. There is a lake there and your can hike in that area. We saw lots of folks fishing (and catching) around the lake. We hiked up a bit along the Silver Creek trail and saw an old abandoned mine.
Steve found out that he doesn’t have to work on Memorial Day we are having a 3-day weekend! No news yet on where we will end up next, but Steve has his name in the hat in MT, WY, MO, and IN.
Blessings! Chrissy
