Sunday was Father’s Day! Steve was the boss of the day and we started it by attending a little church about a mile down the road from us. The service was good and afterwards they handed out cold soda’s for the dads. Steve got a cream soda. We headed down the road for lunch in O’Fallen, MO. We ate a fabulous meal at an Indian restaurant. We hit up Costco for gas while we were there and a few other shops.
Then we headed to a state park. There is a lake there and we were going to take a walk around it. We wore boots, thick socks, pants, hats and tucked our pants into our socks. Deep woods off was sprayed over all of that and then we started down the path. About 1/4 of a mile in I saw a tick on Steve’s pants leg, we got it off and decided that we just weren’t that interested in hiking. Once you have gotten a tick attached to you it just changes the game. So we walked for about 1 1/2 miles on a road and then drove to the lake for viewing.
On the way back to Airy we finished listening to the audio book of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Having been to the cave in the story the ending was pretty cool as we could visualize the places he wrote about. The evening was spent relaxing, connecting with family, and Steve enjoyed some more of his pie.
Monday morning dawned and Steve is instantly back to work. The past week together has been so refreshing, but the purpose in being here is for his job. It has been a hot and sticky week here in MO. The temps have been in the 85-90 degree range everyday with humidity above 70 percent. Though it still isn’t as hot as it was in Tucson last summer! I don’t think I’ve ever lived in such a hot place as that! Steve has gotten into the groove of his job here in MO.
On another note. I released another 2 books this week on Amazon, The Little Racer and Stu’s Shapes Surprise. If you enjoyed Monty the Monarch and the Invisible Butterfly, feel free to check them out! These are geared to children under 5.
