Tucson – Contract Three, Week Four

The week started off quite chilly here in Tucson!

We had temps below freezing for 4 nights in a row.

On Monday we even saw snowflakes with the high in the low 40’s.

By the end of the week the weather had righted itself and we were back in the upper 60’s.

This was Steve and my first go around with cold weather and we are happy to say that Airy did great! The furnace ran like a pro and kept us warm on those chilly nights.

We got a small dehumidifier for the airstream too as the propane heat puts a lot of moisture in the air.

Another thing we did was disconnect the water hose outside from Airy to the campground spicket. We were glad we did because it was frozen solid in the morning. The airstream is designed to keep the pipes from freezing when the furnace is heating, but only the pipes that are under the flooring, not the ones outside. We had fresh water in our tank and just used that on those cold evenings/mornings.

We are thankful to be learning more about how to live in various temperatures in Airy.

Tuesday marked the anniversary of my Dad’s passing

It put me in a melancholy mood for some of the week.

I reminisced about my dad with Steve and my mom. We enjoyed reliving memories of him in my heart and mind.

I am so grateful to have my beautiful mom to share with. The pain of losing someone you love never goes away, for me it has gone from a raw debilitating pain to a deep ache.

My dad was one in a million and I am thankful to have had him in my life.

I finished a really good book this week

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacob’s.

Steve and I had watched an episode of a series based on the Underground Railroad, only to be disappointed that it was fictional and had taken some liberties in the development of the story (there was an actual railroad underground folks traveled on), but it put me in the mood to read some real life stories and this book was perfect.

Harriet shares how she lived in hiding for over 7 years in a small compartment. She shares her struggles and her victories and her eventual passage into freedom.

I really enjoyed it.

Steve and I looked at different properties this week

We actually found one that was amazing and in our price point, we put an offer on it the same day. Unfortunately for us, the property received 17 offers over the course of 3 days and ours was not accepted.

So the hunt continues…

We continue to wait before God and know that he has good things in store for us.
