Week Four: Tucson, AZ

Hi Friends!

Sunday

Week four began with Fathers Day.

My dad passed away in 2013 and I miss him daily, but I always especially miss him on Fathers Day. Today when we were driving there was a license plate that said “Leland.” That is my dad’s name and it was just like a little wink from my dad that he’s thinking about me too.

We celebrated Steve today! I am thankful that he is the father of my children. He is the BEST! Steve got a massage, we ate at an Indian buffet for lunch, enjoyed a Dunkin Donuts coffee, and then Steve ended the day with a yummy candy bar from Ben. Steve was able to speak with his dad on the phone today while we were driving around. All four of our kids wished him a Happy Fathers Day too. I think he had a great Fathers Day!

Monday

Today is Monday and I was thinking about our Airstream today.

When we were looking for a travel trailer we looked at Airstreams first. I thought they were to expensive and to small and not enough storage room for my things.

Then we went on to look at other travel trailers and I became aware of the quality of the Airstream craftsmanship. I started to appreciate that more and more.

So by the time we looked again I was way more open to the streamline size.

We were in Phoenix for a overnight getaway, and looked at the Airstream dealers online website and saw nothing at their store that we thought we’d want. But since we were in town we decided to stop in and just look around again. We saw the things we had seen online and were like, yep…not what we want.

A salesman said there was one that came in that wasn’t online and would we like to see it?

We said sure.

It just so happened to be a 25 foot Flying Cloud, now we were really interested as that was the model we wanted. Wouldn’t you know that when we walked in it we both looked at each other with that look that had a deeper awareness that this is the one. We had a list of what we wanted, non-negotiables, and this one had them ALL! We talked to the sales guy about systems, and such and then we talked price. This was even in the price point we were anticipating. So, we made an offer and said we’d sleep on it and if we still felt good about it in the morning we’d follow through.

The rest is history and we are so glad that we have this as our home.

I now know that there is plenty of storage space in it. There are even some compartments that are still empty!

Today I am doing some tutorials on an app called Procreate. Steve got me a tablet to create digital art on and I am learning about using it and trying out some drawings. It is fun. I am hoping to add digital art to the books that I am working on.

Tuesday

Tuesday brought cloudy skies and temperatures in the 90’s. It was nice to have some cooler weather!

During the day I worked on some revisions to my story “A Home For Felipe.” I am enjoying writing and creating artwork to illustrate the stories. I will share it with you all when I have it finished.

It is quite different then the little one I did for Steve in honor of our anniversary. This one has chapters and tells a more involved story.

In the evening we actually shut the air conditioner off and spent some time outside enjoying the coolness of low 80’s. We slept with the air off and the windows open, first time since we’ve been here! It was so nice.

Wednesday

Wednesday had pretty much the same vibe as Monday and Tuesday with Steve working and me writing. It was sunny and warmer today than yesterday, but I like the sunshine so I didn’t really mind.

I am making Kombucha here, just as I did at home and today I worked on switching my brew. If anyone is ever in need of a SCOBY I have one every week! I could save one for you… I am making mango Kombucha this week. Yum! The health benefits of Kombucha are probiotics and antibiotics and with care it is easy to make for yourself. Steve and I both enjoy it, and we were spending upwards of $3.00 on a single serving bottle before we started to brew our own.

After making my new batch I worked on graphics for a while. Drawing is so relaxing to me.

I really enjoy it. Steve came home, we ate dinner, ran an errand, and then he had a coaching phone call. This was his Father’s Day gift. He will talk with this coach a couple times a month and hopefully be inspired to go further in accomplishing his goals.

Thursday

Thursday I woke up with a terrible headache…so no run/walk for me this morning. I ate breakfast and took some Advil and at present am feeling much better.

Today I have been working on a book called “Rangith the Rickshaw Driver.” I took some experiences I had in India and mashed them up into a story. I actually wrote the story years ago, and had a friend edit it recently. In looking at the story I think it needs a refresh and so that is what I am doing. I am also working on some graphics for it. When it is complete I will share it with you all.

I am super jazzed about this program Steve got me for doing graphics. I can create so much with it and it eliminates the extra steps I have been encumbered with previously.

Steve had an admission yesterday so he got home rather late. We ate, took a walk, and then relaxed in the hot tub together. There was no one else at the pool/hot tub so we had it all to ourselves.

Friday

Friday dawned fresh and new and I was able to do my mile run… actually it was 1.10 mile run today. I finished it off with a 1/2 mile walk to cool down.

Steve and I have some fun things we are planning to do this weekend. I will fill you in next week….

I worked on graphics again for most of the day.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. It’s going to be hot again here, but honestly I think we are getting a bit used to it. Steve and I find ourselves commenting that it feels cooler out and then we will look at the temp and it will be 100 degrees. I guess its all in perspective, right?

Blessings,
Chrissy
