Marriage Pearl # 11: Accept Parental Imperfection

All parents are a mixed bag. It’s true no matter how good or bad we are.

As parents, it is important to realize that you will fail your kids from time to time. We are only human and raising kids is no easy feat.

In the beginning, I wanted to be the perfect mom with happy, healthy, and successful children. However, I soon learned that it was impossible to achieve this ideal.

I often get tired, irritable, and need a break. But instead of dwelling on my mistakes, I have made a daily habit of reflecting on what went well that day as a parent and what I could improve upon. This helps me acknowledge my mistakes without getting stuck in a cycle of self-pity. Instead, I focus on developing new strategies for managing the chaos of daily life and continuing to grow as a parent.

I have come to accept that parenting is a journey, and it’s okay to stumble along the way. As long as I keep moving forward with a commitment to doing my best, I can be confident that I am on the right track.
